This micro-country is part of French Cornouaille, itself located in the south of Finist\u00e8re and at the tip of Brittany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An unspoiled and wild coastline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Bigouden region comprises 20 municipalities, each with its own unique charm. It boasts a diverse, varied, and wild coastline, featuring long beaches of fine white sand, rocky shores where ocean waves crash against the rocks, marshes that are a paradise for birds, and small fishing ports with their own special charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Audierne Bay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Bay of Audierne forms a long arc stretching from the mouth of the Goyen River in the north to Pointe de la Torche in the south. It is an exceptional environment, renowned throughout Europe for the diversity of its flora, fauna, and birdlife, as well as for the uniqueness of its landscapes. The whole area has been a protected natural site since 1989, covering 1,165 hectares across seven municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From there, take the ferry across the river to Loctudy, another coastal fishing port. Or, opposite B\u00e9nodet, visit the pretty port of Sainte-Marine with its chapel overlooking the harbor and its maritime ex-votos hanging from the roof beams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then there is also Pointe de la Torche, for lovers of surfing and big waves. Nearby, take the time to visit the Notre Dame de Trono\u00ebn chapel with the oldest calvary in Brittany. A little further on, in Tr\u00e9guennec, discover the remains of an old pebble crushing factory and hiking trails in an exceptional setting renowned for its biodiversity, with over 300 species of birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Returning to Penmarc’h and its famous Eckm\u00fchl lighthouse, which stands 65 meters tall and watches over the rocks of Saint-Gu\u00e9nol\u00e9-Penmarc’h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
