Small town of character
Locronan, north of Quimper, is a medieval village classified as a Petite Cité de Caractère (Small Town of Character) and one of the most beautiful villages in France. Its prosperity peaked during the era of the Compagnie des Indes, as flax was grown and woven there for ship sails.
Stroll through its cobbled streets, lined with characterful granite houses belonging to wealthy weavers and merchants dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
Step inside Saint-Ronan Church, where every year the Troménie procession begins, a special pilgrimage to this parish where the region’s most beautiful costumes and banners are paraded to the sound of bagpipes.
